6 days van trip in Tenerife

Do you want to live the real Tenerife experience? Exploring the island by van it's the best way to do it!

Here a short guide to the best place to visit, restaurants and last but not least, the best places to park your van during your stay on the island.

Spoiler: the ocean will be the first thing you will see after you wake up, every day.

Here the van we rented.

Day 1:

We arrived at Tenerife South Airport and we went to El Médano to pick up our van. Quick stop at Lille Cafè.

Then we visited Montaña amarilla and Playa Amarilla, a rocky and sandy beach, with some of the cleanest and clearest waters on the island. It is popular for snorkeling and scuba diving.

Please note: the beach itself lacks facilities and there aren't a lot of bars and restaurants nearby.

Then we went to Playa de las Americas area, where we did all the shopping for the van and we enjoyed an amazing sunset at Playa del Bunker.

📍Parking for the day:

Calle Arenas blancas in front of Playa del Bunker

Probably the best place to stay for the night with a van. You'll need to be patient 'cause it's quite difficult to find a spot, but it's absolutely worth it.

Day 2:

We enjoyed our first breakfast from the van, just in front of the Playa del Bunker beach and then we spent the morning at Playa del Duque.

Then I had a surf lesson with Wild Surf School.

I really recommend them because they won't bring you to the classic beach where all the beginners are and the classes are only with 2 or 3 people, so they can really focus on you and so it's easier to learn.

Then we moved to the north and we went to Acantilados de Los Gigantes, vertical cliffs reaching heights of 500 meters.

📍Parking for the night:

At the end of Avenida Jose Gonzalez Forte.

Nice spot to see the sunset and really quiet parking.

Day 3:

We went to Masca, a pretty village hidden in the mountains, a place that really reminds to South America and Machu Picchu. It's all about breathtaking views, plants and vegetation.

The we moved to Garachico a cute historic village surrounded by nature, with palm trees and banana plantations adorning a particularly steep volcanic landscape. I recommend you to have a walk in the old town and visit the natural swimming pools of El Caletón.

Then we visited the Elevador de agua de Gordejuela, also known as "Casa Hamilton", an industrial ruin near Los Realejos.

We had a walk in Puerto de la Cruz and had lunch at Vinoteca Con Pasión.

We spent the evening at Santa Cruz de Tenerife.

We enjoyed the sunset from Mirador de la Playa de las Teresitas.

Parking for the night:

📍Parking de las Teresitas at Playa de las Teresitas

Day 4:

We spent the morning at Playa de las Teresitas, well known in Tenerife for its crystal-clear waters. Is one of the best to enjoy a day at the beach (if there's no wind).

We visited San Cristóbal de La Laguna, a UNESCO world heritage site. It is a lovely city with colorful buildings and countless side streets to explore.

Had a coffe and açai bowl at Ahul bowls & coffee.

Then we came back to the south. We enjoyed another sunset at Playa del Bunker while having a smoothie at Metropolis Cafe.

📍Parking for the night:

Calle Arenas blancas in front of Playa del Bunker

Day 5:

We visited Teide National Park, Spain's highest point and the third tallest volcano in the world. The road to get to the park is a spectacular sight to see. The landscape is breathtaking from every angle and the snowy white peak contrasting with tongues of black lava petrified is a unique combination that never fails to surprise.

I recommend you to visit Roque Chinchado, Minas de San Jose, Mirador de las narices del Teide.

And, if you have time, there are a lot of hiking trails to try.

Unfortunately, we couldn't reach the summit because the funicular tickets were sold out.

Before the sunset we went to Playa la Caleta and Playa Enramada, which becomes very romantic in the evening.

We had dinner at Restaurante Salitre.

Parking for the night:

📍Parking Playa Enramada

Day 6:

We went to Daria's bakery and bistro, probably the best place to have breakfast in the island.

We returned the van 😞😞😞

And we enjoyed our last day between Montaña Roja and Playa del Médano (best place for kitesurf and windsurf).

We spent our last night at Vineyard Eladio, a guesthouse and little community located in the countryside of Charco del Pino. Here, you can share your meals with people from all four corners of the world and create memories for life.
